I was happy with the storm light that illuminated the scene when I shot "Yesterday's Train Today" on Donner, but my luck ran out by the time a following eastbound manifest showed up. If only I had the same lighting on the head-end as the DPUs. So it goes.

Photos and Video: UP 2552 East is seen with a 2x3x0 manifest on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The video proved challenging with the changing light conditions. I'm primarily a stills shooter, but I like to set up a micro 4/3 camera that I have as a back-up to shoot videos. My M.O. is to frame a scene, manually focus, fix white balance and exposure, and then let it roll. The changing lighting as clouds allowed full sun to move in and out of the scene created some challenges around preserving highlights and post processing. After some cutting, exposure adjustments, and cross dissolve blending to smooth out the exposure changes, this is what I came up with. Again, so it goes.
