Western Railroad Discussion > Quick SD&IV (San Diego, CA)Date: 09/06/25 17:23 Quick SD&IV (San Diego, CA) Author: cchan006 SD&IV = San Diego & Imperial Valley Railroad, which operates freight trains, almost always at night on the San Diego Trolley tracks, Orang Line to El Cajon and Blue Line to San Ysidro, the U.S. Mexico border.
Suvart and I have reported on the SD&IV in recent years, for those willing to look them up using TO's search function. This is just a video follow up on what's happening recently, on a recent August Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I included an overnight stay to my transit-only San Diego trip so I can catch this train. GP40-3 SDIY #3112 with a P3 horn leads south, and NRE 3GS21B SDIY #701 Genset leads north on a quick return trip back to San Diego. That's it for the quick report. This freight operation is pretty much unknown (at least to me) and never photographed.
Do the interchange with RR's in Mexico at San Yisidro? Good size trains for a shortline operating over trolley/light rail lines. Ive become too accustomed to light rail lines have little or no freight traffic, and local freights running with 5 or 6 cars. Answer should be yes. Suvart's report 3 years ago has a better answer: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5445207 The last industry served on the Orange Line is for sale, its future bleak: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,6046682,6047021#6047021 Date: 09/06/25 22:30 Re: Quick SD&IV (San Diego, CA) Author: oyw Real nice Charles!

be retired by the end of the year. Date: 09/08/25 15:03 Re: Quick SD&IV (San Diego, CA) Author: PHall 3rdswitch Wrote:
