Western Railroad Discussion > Four ex-Metra F40PHs headed to CO

This could have been posted under passenger trains but chose to post here under western railroad discussion.

Ex-Metra F40PHs 159, 158, 154, and 161 were towed on BNSF Z-CHCDEN on the evening of 10/28/25. This was confirmed on several railcams along the BNSF Mendota and Ottumwa Subdivisions. These four units operated mostly on the UP Metra routes. Does anybody know where these four units will ultimately go and/or what will become of them?

A while back I heard that Metra might convert some F40PHs into battery units. I have no idea if this is why but there is a chance they're headed to Pueblo since its on a Denver bound train.

Again all speculation on my end.

Oh yes, I had forgotten about Metra wanting to take four F40PHs and converting them into battery units. Going to Denver does have merit.

The prevailing theory on the Facebook groups following Metra that I read is that they will be rebuilt for GO Transit in Toronto.

They are going to the TTC in Colorado.
