It's been pretty slow on the Heavner Sub during daylight hours lately. Honestly, I did not think I'd find anything running today. We headed out the door anyway to explore and see what the tree color would be like. After a slight delay, getting sideswiped by another car around Neosho and dealing with that, we finally got onto Hwy 71/59 to follow the tracks. After a quick stop in Anderson, MO, to get a shot of the ex-KCS depot, we picked up a red signal Lanagan, MO. Another quick stop in Noel to get a shot of their ex-KCS depot revealed a loaded grainer starting up after a stop at the S. Noel siding switch. I tried to get far enough ahead of it to get set up with my video camera, but it was running a bit faster than I had anticipated. I instead had to get settled in for digital and grabbed a couple of shots off the Hwy 59 bridge just north of Sulpher Springs (image). It was a quick grab and go with another fan following me, who happened to also be on the bridge. We parted ways in Gavette, AR, where I was able to get some video and additional images. Excellent catch!  As a longtime CPRS/CPKC employee (now retired), I'd definitely like to check out the former KCS side sometime soon.  

Great catch! It appears the leaves may be falling faster than changing color. The fictitious climate warming has had dramatic affects on seasonal autumn colors here in the central atlantic states. It was much more colorful ten years ago. Sigh!
