Some more from the mornings chase of the METRA units in Colo
Author: ns2557

OK, Along with cozephyr and one other early riser, I was trackside to catch the 4 ex METRA F40's on their way to MxV Rail at Avondale Colo this morning. Just thought I would add my shots to Chip's fine shots.

Shot 1.   The BNSF 2944-2549 duo have from closest to camera to next to the BNSF power the following METRA Units, 161, 154, 159, 158 along with a covered hopper car sitting on the lead to the TTC/MxV Facilities at Avondale. That is the southern range of the Sangre de Cristo Mtns in the distance along with the Twin Peaks down Walsenburg Colo way. It would be a few hours til MxV came out to pick the units up. They will have to spot the Covered Hopper on the north leg of the wye here to tie onto the METRA Units. Keeps them in practice.

Shot 2.  Here the BNSF East Local is seen crossing over Pueblo's Santa Fe Ave as they head east on the Pueblo Sub for Avondale.

Shot 3. This shot was taken off the entrance to the old Pueblo Chemical Depot and the NSS Avondale as the BNSF Local heads into the siding. They will pull down to the switch off the siding and shove all but the head Covered Hopper into the clear before cutting away and shoving back up the south leg of the wye that leads to the track into the TTC/MxV Rail Facilities.

All in all a great morning. Even the weather co operated with mild temps, no wind and a few clouds.  Good seeing ya this morning Chip.  Be well, take care, stay safe all. Ben   All shots taken November 4 2025 at Pueblo and Avondale Colo as noted.

I guess I haven't been following this.  What will those ex-Metra engines be doing in Colorado?

MxV Rail guys said they would use them - they evidently are operational.  Otherwise, no clue.
