DRGW Burnham Shops to Broncos Burnham Yards
Author: cozephyr

The huge Denver & Rio Grande Western RR shop building closed 14 February 2016 by Union Pacific has been retained by Walton Group for future Broncos Stadium covered football field and called Burnham Yards nowadays.  View in snow covered Denver, CO, Saturday, 6 December 2025.  All other railroad related buildings were demolished starting in summer 2025.

Rob Walton, along with his daughter Carrie Walton Penner and son-in-law Greg Penner, owns the Denver Broncos. Greg Penner serves as the CEO and is the designated controlling owner of the team.

NO sound video.  At the end you can see Empower Field where the Broncos currently hold their just barely winning games.

10-2 at the moment.   Rams v Broncos in Super Bowl?   Young coach/old QB v old coach/young QB.  What's not to like?

Used to be a lot of track in those places.  Uhhh, the decline of the railroads.

What is wrong with the existing Broncos stadium and its location?

Walmart family  owns the broncos they want a roof, retractable, should have done it last time around

Private money chiefly will build this,  hope to get a super bowl, probably more luxury boxes

maybe some auxiliary development the stadium will be north west of the big brick building which they will retain

More water board property looking at old maps the area was once a reservoir around 1900 west of the shops and treatment was still pushing cattail's recently near there by the joint line

Nothing whatsoever.  But, the "new" stadium (that replaced the perfectly good "Mile High Stadium") is now several years old, so it MUST be torn down and a new one built.  It is clear that there are tremendous profits being made building these billion dollar stadiums every few years.  Especially because they usually involve large sums of public money.  It is likely the stadiums only cost a portion of what they say they do. So where does the rest of the money go??.........

You can do like LA and build it with private money, immediately get a Super Bowl and then a Summer Olympics. Both will pay the owners handsomely for the use of their facility.

As I recall, Rams and SoFi Stadium owner Stan Kronke  is married to a Walton;  thus Walmart money to pay the bills.

Exactly why I stay at my cozy home where I can control the sound and munch as desired on my own goodies...all without the exoberant prices, noise, and parking problems at any stuffed stadium.  I even enjoy better use of my hearing aids, a nearby toilet, an easy chair, and less gasoline and vehicle wear and tear also!
