Western Railroad Discussion > Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad!Date: 12/10/25 21:37 Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad! Author: RailRat Guy in silver car behind trailer got himself stuck in a sticky situation,
At beginning of video you can barely hear him Honking at the truck in front of him, who had a red light. He couldn't reverse because the gate was directly behind his car, so he was sitting right on the track. Then the engineer honks at him or at everyone to do something! The crew was switching and only needed to move ahead a little to clear a switch to be thrown, then reverse back to Corona yard. I mistakenly thought I was going to catch the Elsinore local crossing over the road, but that didn't happen. PLEASE TRY TO IGNORE MY SILLY ON CAMERA COMMENTS. Author: RailRat Here's a map, Blue X is where I was, Blue curved line is where silver car and trailer/truck were.
Red line is where BNSF engines were. Jim Baker Riverside, CA Date: 12/10/25 22:19 Re: Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad! I little scratched paint is a whole lot better than a demolished car, and your life.
Flame on. Date: 12/11/25 04:57 Re: Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad! Author: lne655 Couldn't agree more. I marvel at mindset that gets you first of caught in between gates, the flashers and warnings significant preceed the gate drop, then to add to the dumbness (or numbness?) they allow themselves to remain trapped when they could easily drive through.

Date: 12/11/25 11:54 Re: Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad! Author: longliveSP Since we do not see the start of the sequence, I am going to guess that this is actually a signal configuration gotcha.
Both the truck pulling the trailer and the car were WB on E 6th St and turning left onto El Camino Ave. There is a signal light controlling the left turn lane on E 6th St, right before the railroad crossing. There is a SEPARATELY timed/controlled signal on the transition road from E 6th St to El Camino Ave BEFORE crossing EB E 6th St. The sequence of events that most likely occured is this:
The yellow arrow points to the railroad crossing signal. Date: 12/11/25 12:06 Re: Trapped at xing, they're holding up the railroad! Author: mapboy All parties are still stuck there, waiting for a resolution. Like the dumb blonde that was stuck on the escalator for four hours when the electricity went off. 8>)
