Western Railroad Discussion > Norfolk Southern in MissouriDate: 02/12/26 06:58 Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: SP8595 1) Taking the Siding at the East end of Wakenda, ES44DC #7560 leads the Westbound 181 train and past a couple of Wabash era searchlight signals on Saturday, January 31st.
2) Also on the 31st, ES44AC #8090 highballs through Wakenda with the Eastbound 258 train with a neat triple searchlight signal. 3) Early in the morning on Sunday, February 8th fresh 4947 is just West of WB Jct. and approaching Carrollton with the Eastbound 19E train. WB Jct is the where the NS line splits off of the BNSF Transcon line. -------------------Nine More Pictures Posted Below----------------------------- Date: 02/12/26 06:59 Re: Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: SP8595 Later in the morning also on the 8th, I shot three NS trains between Hardin and Henrietta in less than 15 minutes.
4) With no hills to climb as like out in Western Colorado, might as well frame the only thing of interest out here, a big dead tree which was probably struck by lightning! SD70ACe #1197 heads West on Main #1 with the 181 train. I think this train is pretty neat with all of the 86' Autopart boxcars. 5) On Main #3, the ex-Wabash line is the Eastbound 258 train with NS 4693 leading. 6) As soon as this train cleared the crossing, I just made it back over to Main #1 to catch 4681 heading West with the 279 train. ------------Six More Pictures Posted Below----------------------- Date: 02/12/26 07:00 Re: Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: SP8595 The day before yesterday, the Central of Georgia Heritage engine was leading West out of St. Louis in what was supposed to be an overnight run but when it got delayed, I took off for Moberly, MO hoping for an afternoon run into Kansas City but unfortunately the train didn't depart St. Louis until after 4 PM, taking almost 24 hours to get out of St. Louis! At least I was able to shoot a couple of other trains.
7) NS 4644 with a GP60 second out heads over the West switch at Huntsville with the 115 train. I have shot this signal before but I guess another one doesn't hurt:} 8) Taken from the C Road overpass at Huntsville, SD70ACe #1042 leads on the Westbound 181 train. 9) The third Westbound of the morning out of Moberly was the 259 train with the 4522 leading. --------Three More Pictures Posted Below----------------- Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/12/26 13:23 by SP8595. Date: 02/12/26 07:02 Re: Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: SP8595 I headed further East to hopefully get the C of G engine and ended up in Mexico, MO.
10) East of Mexico at Benton City, the 4803 leads the 19E train past an intermediate searchlight signal. 11) SD60E #6968 was being used as the Local engine in town and was backing up past the old Chicago & Alton/Gulf Mobile & Ohio Depot. 12) And before I gave up on the Heritage engine, I caught 4264 with the Eastbound 258 train again passing the old Depot. ----------------Lots of "one unit wonders" which aren't my favorite but what are you going to do:}------------------- Date: 02/12/26 07:03 Re: Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: train1275 Great coverage, really like what you are doing !
Date: 02/12/26 07:11 Re: Norfolk Southern in Missouri Author: GN1969 This is going to become a very important line, bypassing Chicago, for UP after the NS merger.
