There is a stop in Gerlack, Nevada which is north of Pyramid Lake on road 447 on April 7.
April 9, they show stops in Oroville, Marysville & Roseville, California.
Where do they stop for April 8?  Portola overnight?  The Union Pacific Steam Club does not say in the email.

I guess you missed the part about that there will be private (not open to the public) company family day events. You know, the part I highlighted in green...

April 8 is a layover day at Portola, which includes a fundraiser, according to the UP Steam Schedule website.

Since Dunsmuir isn't listed, then it's a no...

Map I saw earlier today showed 4014 taking the ex-WP from Salt Lake to Roseville, and then the ex-SP from Roseville to Ogden. So an out and back from Cheyenne, is this any different than the trip 2 years ago?

Pretty much the exact same routing and directions from 24, except the train isn't routed via Idaho on the way back. More quicker trip.

Hooray for Gerlach, NV.  Big Boy in Spring and Burning Man at the end of August.  "That's all, folks."

Nope, almost exact same trip. UP cancelled a planned 2022 tour that would have gone to California then north to Oregon and east through Idaho citing capacity constraints and logistical issues. They hinted it might happen in ‘24 but ended up doing almost the exact same trip they are doing now, except that they’re running it in what is normally peak mud season instead of peak fire season.

Out here in lonely Lovelock, NV on the UPRR Overland there is nothing like the Big Boy rolling into town!

For a couple hours this little town in the Great Basin Desert doubles in size when the swarm of steam chasers come rolling in!

It's exciting for the town and we thank the UPRR for their efforts.

Is the road to Gerlach still dirt ??? I recall it as one of those " You REALLY Gotta WANT - TO " go there places...

Road to the Gerlach from the South is paved and decent, road West from Help Me Ronda to
Gerlach is a bit silty and framed in tales of woe. It's not bad but need to do a little desert  path
reading to spot the really deep silt. Runnamucca to Ronda is a well maintained mine road
so you get most of the way there.

When they arrive at Marysville, they are scheduled to go onto the former SP east valley line this time and head south to Roseville with a scheduled whistle stop in Lincoln.
