Western Railroad Discussion > More from MissouriDate: 02/27/26 08:17 More from Missouri Author: SP8595 1) On February 19th, Norfolk Southern ES44DC #7507 leads the Westbound 115 train on Main #1 of BNSF's Transcon line as it approaches Hardin, MO. The mainlines are split here with Main #2, which is Norfolk Southern's (ex-Wabash) line seen to the right of the picture.
2) Also on Feb. 19th near Sturges, MO which is on CPKC's (ex-Milwaukee Road) line North of Chillicothe, the Canadian Pacific 8074 was leading a massive Southbound 678 train that was set-up in a 1x1x1 fashion. This train looked like they had combined a manifest train with a unit Potash train and I wish I had counted the cars as it took forever to pass. It also had to setout 13 tank cars at Chillicothe which I'm sure had plenty of road crossings blocked! 3) A hundred numbers higher than the lead engine number, CP 8174 was the rear DP in this going away shot. ------------------Twelve More Pictures posted Below-------------------- Date: 02/27/26 08:18 Re: More from Missouri Author: SP8595 4) On February 22nd at Braymer, MO, the Canadian Pacific 9718 leads the Southbound 180 train past some ballast cars that are still lettered for the Milwaukee Road. Wish they weren't right next to all of those trees:{
5) Canadian Pacific 8132 was the rear DP and I forgot all about the station sign in this going away shot but at least I got most of it I guess:} 6) On BNSF's Brookfield Subdivision, BNSF 3839 is West of Tina, MO on a Westbound Belt Railway of Chicago/Clearing Yard to Kansas City manifest train. -----------------Nine More Pictures posted Below----------------------- Date: 02/27/26 08:18 Re: More from Missouri Author: SP8595 Yesterday was a Beautiful day here in Missouri so I decided to head down to Slater and try and get the CPKC Local that runs out of there, hopefully heading Eastbound.
7) As soon as I walked out of the house, I heard an Eastbound train on BNSF's Brookfield Sub. so I raced down to the Highway 65 crossing and shot the BNSF 3919 on a H CDTGAL. From the symbol list that I looked at, CDT stands for Cadet Yard in San Antonio? 8) Crossing over the Norfolk Southern line at Carrollton on Hwy 65, the NS 8154 was approaching at the same time with the Westbound 279 train and even though the Sun was right behind the train, I decided to snap a shot of it. 9) I got some intel about a Florin special on the Union Pacific that was departing Eastbound out of Kansas City on their River Sub. so I waited at Waverly but the UP 7124 on a N. Antelope Mine, WY to W. Labadie, MO loaded coal train showed up first. That is the Missouri River in the background. -----------------Six More Pictures Posted Below---------------------- Date: 02/27/26 08:19 Re: More from Missouri Author: SP8595 I usually don't like to shoot different trains at the same location so after the coal train passed, I checked out a couple of different spots but everything was in shadows so I just went back to the same location at Waverly and waited.
10) Union Pacific 9639 on the SFLES-24 had two new Metro North engines, showing SIIX 311 and 312 and what I believe is a Amtrak Cascades engine. I tried chasing this train and just missed it at Malta Bend and also near Marshall so this ended up being my only shot of it:{ I could hear on the scanner that the Slater Local was indeed heading East out of Slater but was already out running and meeting 2 Westbounds at a place called Harmony, which is between Slater and Glascow. I decided to try and shoot the two Westbound trains and let the Local go for now. 11) Scoping out locations between Marshall and Slater, I found a pretty nice spot where the tracks crossed East Cow Creek and shot the first train which was a Westbound manifest that had the Canadian Pacific 8639, Kansas City Southern 4703 and KCS GP38-2 #1908. 12) I then drove around to check out a couple of different locations for the second train but when I heard a detector announce "six axles", I just went back to the same bridge. KCSM 4763 on a literal "one unit wonder" was heading over to Marshall to tack on the rear of a Grain train that was loading at the elevator in town that only had a pair of CP engines and needed a rear DP. ----------Three More Pictures posted Below-------------------- Date: 02/27/26 08:21 Re: More from Missouri Author: SP8595 The CPKC Disp. told that light engine to get the Grain train ready at Marshall but he wouldn't be able to take him out as there were 2 Eastbounders heading that way so I decided to stay around the Slater/Glascow area. However one of the trains stalled climbing a hill near Blue Springs which is East of Kansas City so they were going to "steal" an engine from the Grain train to help the stalled train get up the hill. With that news, I decided to continue heading East to Clark, MO where a Norfolk Southern line crosses the CPKC line at grade.
13) Shortly after arriving at Clark, a headlight for an Eastbound Norfolk Southern train appeared and figuring it was just another GE leading I setup for a wedge that included the station sign and signal but it had SD70ACC #1814 on the point! I wish I had tried for a wider angle had I known and I tried to give chase but quickly "threw in the towel" as I didn't want to miss the CPKC Local which was now returning Westbound to Slater. 14) I was somewhat bummed when the Local showed up with Canadian Pacific SD60 6229 on the point instead of a Southern Belle painted Geep and then was really disappointed when I saw the condition of the patched paint and hood door open:{ Here it is about to cross the NS line at Clark. 15) The shot that I really wanted was on the bridge at Glascow over the Missouri River and not only did I barely make it but had I got stuck behind a school bus which I was able to just get in front of at a highway intersection, I would've been SOL! -------Used to slow Mountain Railroading and not trains running at track speed:}-------------------------- Edited 1 time(s). JB Date: 02/27/26 09:48 Re: More from Missouri Author: cozephyr Looks like you cleaned up despite the occasional highway issues. Keep exploring those Missouri back roads. You're on a roll.
P.S. - You should take a road trip to the Rockies (either Canadian or US) sometime later this year. Date: 02/27/26 11:40 Re: More from Missouri Author: yes Very good pics my back yard Missouri.

Especially like #15.
Gk Date: 02/27/26 13:09 Re: More from Missouri Author: AndyBrown Lotta great variety, and nice bridge shots. Crappy paint and open hood door notwithstanding, the CP '60 is a nice catch in my book.
Andy Date: 02/27/26 15:40 Re: More from Missouri Author: philippe Killer bridge shot!
