progress of the CRRX 5581 'Theodore Roosevelt" part 2
Author: IDEAL_1

Work is wrapping up on the paint job for CRRX 5581 “Theodore Roosevelt.”After many long days and countless hours of sanding, rust removal, and careful mitigation and prevention, this car is finally coming back to life. Every inch was prepped by hand — old paint stripped down, corrosion addressed the right way, and the surface brought back to a solid foundation worthy of its name. Billy and hs side kick sam have done a amazing job with this project much like every other car/locomotive they get their hands on!This wasn’t just a repaint — it was a restoration effort rooted in pride and craftsmanship. The transformation speaks for itself, and we’re excited to see 5581 looking sharp and protected for years to come.Stay tuned for final reveal photos.

I have been there 3 or 4 times, those guys do very professional and creative work! The very success of this operation can largely be credited to the superior shop crew, they are lucky to have them! === === = === JLH

Can you clue us in to the type of paint that is being used?  There are so many choices out there, it is hard to know what to use these days.  Thanks.

Billy does fine work. He and his former cohort painted the Rock & Rail GP40 401 into it's current Red and White scheme.  They did most if not all the current RGX SD40-2's including the 602, the Winter Express unit. All the detail work done by hand. Both these gents were prior to the biiger models, Hot Rod Custom Painters.  Thanks Adam for sharing.  Ben
