Western Railroad Discussion > Pick 'Em Up, And Move 'Em Out

One of the neat things about living in Ritzville, along a busy mainline, is we see a lot of maintenance-of-way crews and equipment.

Crews are currently doing a bunch of work on the Lakeside Subdivision between Spokane and Pasco. All sorts of materials are staged at Ritzville, and one of our hotels is bustling with BNSF crews.

Yesterday, crews were replacing ties between downtown Ritzville, and the 90 freeway bridge.

I caught one CAT loading ties into a front loader, which then dumped them next to a claw truck, which picked them up and moved them out.

In the third photo, today, under overcast skies, I caught a double-stack train meeting a MOW crew at Tokio, east of downtown Ritzville.
