Author: CrossTieWalker

BNSF Railway train U-MQRCNR1-06R heads east through McCook, and transitions from the railway’s Akron Sub to the Hastings Sub … and, as it does, also from the Mountain Time Zone to the Central Time Zone.

BNSF AC4400CW 5713 powers this train, consisting of 27 cars loaded with welded rail heading from Minnequa, Colorado, to Conrad, Oklahoma.

That is a nice catch. Saw this train pass through Palmer Lake, CO, on the Joint Line. Two things different, a single unit on a loaded rail train is unusual BY HERE, and, who owns those blue cars? Have never seen them on BNSF before, normally the brown BNSF cars?

The cars carried a VSR reporting mark.

So ... they are owned by the V & S Rwy. LLC. (Valley & Siletz Railroad Co.)? Or is there a new owner of that mark?

V&S Railway LLC is a subsidiary of A&K Railroad Materials, who specialize in dismantling rail lines and selling the used track materials as relay rail.
