Western Railroad Discussion > Seeing more of this-BNSF symbol help pleaseDate: 04/01/26 13:19 Seeing more of this-BNSF symbol help please Author: bmarti7 I had to run an errand downtown this afternoon. I caught the BNSF 8491 east rolling into downtown Bismarck. 1x1 power, approximately 2 miles long, first third were ocean stacks and the rest of the train was vehicle carriers. I was shooting through my windshield and my rear-of-train shots focused on rain drops instead of train. Sorry. Any info on train symbol would be appreciated.

BNSF is on a big rally to increase train sizes (they apparently have "train-size-envy" because UP's trains are larger....).

I think it's a pretty guess. The "super" train's also can't run on the HiLine EASTBOUND as sidings aren't long enough. So BNSF is sending them on the former NP east of Sandpoint. I would actually guess the opposite and say it was an S-train with empty racks added at the rear. Loaded racks are more likely to be up front. |
