April 2 at Golden, Lesson learned
Author: Denverrails1

I made one of my usual Thursday trips to Golden and thought I would finally get the picture I have been waiting for. The Beer Train was tied down just West of 44th and behind him was the Golden Switcher.
I thought this was too good an opportunity and waited for the Beer Train to get clearance. I'm not sure of the route but if it passes through Utah Junction, they would need clearance from the UP. At 11 AM, the
headlight went to bright, the ditch lights came on and you could hear the prime movers beginning to spool up. I thought Oh Boy, here's a shot as the Beer Train climbs the grade to cross 44th. After the Beer Train
passed, I waited for the Golden Switcher which was following about three or four minutes later.

I missed the very picture I had wanted for a while. The lesson I learned is not to count on your cell phone because as sometimes the gremlins take over and you don't get the picture you want. Future trips to Golden
will be accompanied by a real camera. :-(

This is a remnant of what was once the Colorado & Southern narrow gauge that ran up to Central City and to Silver Plume via the Georgetown Loop.  It never was a through route, and the line ends at Golden now.
