Western Railroad Discussion > CWW Railroad -Weston Branch, Follow upDate: 04/05/26 18:01 CWW Railroad -Weston Branch, Follow up Author: GCCIteacher I drove to Weston last Tuesday and confirmed the line has re-opened to Lakeside Foods (formerly Smith Foods). There were 4 UP refers on site. Two were spotted at the loading doors and the other 2 on the holding track about 50 yards west of the plant. I caught a MOW crew in a HY-Rail cutting back trees on the line.
If anyone knows the operating scheudle to service this branch please share Tom Date: 04/05/26 18:17 Re: CWW Railroad -Weston Branch, Follow up Author: up833 Good to hear this. I worked there in Summers of 1962 and 1963. Lamb-Weston at that time. Frozen peas, carrots and corn were pretty new . UP rail service then out of Walla Walla

Columbia Walla Walla Railway/Columbia Rail put back into service approximately 15 miles of track that had been out of service for about 6 years. During that time the one active shipper, a frozen foods plant in Weston, Oregon, had been loading railcars at Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Service had stopped after some flood damage back in 2020 that wasn't worth repairing at the time, but those calculations have changed. I think it repeats on Thursdays. I often hear them blowing for the Prospect Avenue crossing about 2 miles away.
