UP Stored units at Hinkle
Author: ns2557

Just looking at the UP in the Hinkle Or Area. See a sh&* ton of stored units there. Look to be mostly SD70M's but I see some GE's as well as what look like GP/SD types as well.  Counted at least 50 in one string with another of about 9.  Does anyone by chance have a list of what units are stored here?  Curiosity is killing this cat.  Pueblo has a few here in Colo, once again mostly SD70M's in a few groups 2 or 3 GE's and even an SD70ACe. Have numbers for most of them, would take me abit to get them all is a list, but units are stored at Hinkle/  Thanks much for any replies.  Ben

I have seen stored Aces at North Platte and Kansas City last year. Some of them hadn't moved in a while. Also at Neff Yard, KC they were in the process of breaking up a string of long Stored SD70M units

There are SD70Mac's in Laramie,  3 right now.  There was a line of them several weeks ago.  Also, there are engines sitting in Gering Ne.

Later this year, my wife and myself will be taking a road trip from Ames, IA to Northern California. We will use I 80 on the way and I 70 on the return. Are there any visible stored units within 5 or so miles of our route?
Thanks, Steve

I was wondering what happened to the Laramie line of locomotives.  There were quite a few, maybe 20-25 of them, In several rows.
