Western Railroad Discussion > Don't fear the reaperDate: 04/12/26 03:37 Don't fear the reaper Author: KB5WK On our way to Cleburne TX 04-11-2026 to see some 250th Boxcars on display at BNSF Cleburne yard. We stopped at Midlothian to see what was getting destroyed by the cutting torch. Lo and behond we found more carnage on the BNSF Venus sub on highway 67. More BNSF SD70MAC's have met their end of life and now living larger in the after life in the re-cycled world.

Does living larger include riding the rails again? That's a distinct possibility in the Gerdau (Midlothian) product listing, at least for some of that steel. Besides, would anything ever get tired of riding the rails, lol? :>) https://www2.gerdau.com/market-applications/transportation Nice bunch of photos, thanks for posting... JG Edited 1 time(s). I wonder how much of a market there is for the engine blocks and possibly the Main Generators?

Many tug boats, tow boats and ships use these engines. Also used on oil platforms. They will have no trouble selling these.
