Video NO sound, RPCX 804 passed Portugal Circus at Colorado Springs, CO, 2 May 2026 on BNSF Slaton, Texas, to Denver, CO, train.  The Minnesota Zephyr lettered 804 has been at Alamosa, CO, in recent years part of Ed Ellis Iowa Pacific collection.

Photo - RPCX 804, F7A, approached Littleton, CO, on the Joint Line 2 May 2026.

The organization now operates the Inland Northwest Rail Museum on 30 acres near Reardan, WA, adjacent to the Washington Eastern Railroad short line, at the junction of State Hwy 2 and 231 S. We have added both rolling stock and motive power to our collection recently. Please support our ongoing locomotive restoration projects Great Northern #598 and Spokane Portland & Seattle #804.

Wow!  Northstar leaves Minnesota, and now the Minnesota Zephyr (or part of it anyway). Not looking good right now in Minnesota!

Yes, hence the desire to preserve it in the PNW.

Thank you for sharing these photos.

This unit had to be trucked out of Stillwater, Minnesota as the branchline around the dinner train was removed and converted to a bike trail. It was moved to Alamosa on a flat car, as shown in this thread: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3694022,5625443#msg-5625443

Getting this unit ready for over-the-rail movement is no small feat!

Two SP&S alco FA cab units were scrapped over the past few years, one of which had a significanct amount of cosmetic restoration. Seeing SP&S 804 on the move is good news.

More information on the preservation of this unit is available here: =13pxhttps://railfan.com/inland-northwest-rail-museum-acquires-two-rare-diesels/

Wonderful news to bring the 804 back to Washington and eventual restoration to here original SP&S appearance.   Is this the last original SP&S f-unit in existence?

Thanks for posting the news and to those who are doing the heavy lifting to bring the 804 back to life.

I knew of the existance of the FA in Portland, but literally knew nothing of the groupl that owned the engine and was sad to hear they had it scrapped.  And I have lived in Oregon for some 16 years now. That part is a shame on me, as I didn't do any research on the situation.  Now the engine will be just a footnote on a roster somewhere.  I'm sorry that I failed her.

Greaat that the 804 is ging to be restored.  I will make more of an effort to visit her in Washington seeing Washington is a mere 2 miles from my home (now).  Thank you to all who worked to get ther saved and will work to restore.
