Western Railroad Discussion > EncinaDate: 05/04/26 01:47 Encina Author: funnelfan Coming home from the Sumpter Valley Railroad, I saw three back to back westbounds near sunset climbing the grade toward Encina Summit east of Baker, OR. Only the first of which could be photographed in direct sunlight. The first appeared to be a Bunge Corp loaded soybean train likely heading to the Aberdeen, WA soybean shipment plant. This train was running 2x4x1. It was soon followed by a 3x1x1x0 mixed freight, likely the MNPPD, then a IG4SE showed up.

Date: 05/04/26 21:38 Re: Encina Author: FiestaFoamer I wonder what its speed was going up that hill -- and whether the other trains stacked up behind had to do with this one being a slowpoke? A couple of summers ago, I saw a PSAP grainer here, and it was doing all of about 5 MPH (maybe less) over the single track east of Pleasant Valley, causing a big bottleneck...
