Western Railroad Discussion > Portfolio Shares 5/5/26Date: 05/05/26 07:59 Portfolio Shares 5/5/26 Author: ErikCLindgren More in line with fine-art rail photography today than the general 3/4 wedge.
Photo 1: Crimson Serenity. Abraham Lincoln may have really been impressed having his name on a device like an SD70; better still in a scene fitting for an extraterrestrial landscape like Moab, Utah. Moving up the grade from Potash and Moab, a train fit for another president; rolls intently through the passage of shadows in between the pillars and buttress columns of iron rich rock, a geological wonder by any other description. Photo 2: Sunrise. A winter storm is descending down from the Front Range spreading on the High Plains. Less than a minute after sunrise near Crest, CO on the fabled McCook Division now BNSF Brush Subdivision, Amtrak 5 makes an eager appearance at the dawn of a new day. Photo 3: Wall Cloud. Close but no cigar, Derek Buffie Brown shot the tornado with (5471railphotography on Flickr) Willam Tsnumba about 5 miles out while I went for the train. Full on wall cloud is a rarity in all its rotating ferociousness against a dramatic back lit stage. Welcome to Spring with a bang! ~With a rapidly rotating Wall Cloud and with some light condensation funnel still in place, this long track tornadic super cell made its way northeasterly past Wiggins and BNSF Brush Sub Corona. Almost hit paydirt on this chase, my chase partners were south of me less than 5 miles shooting this tornado as it was on the ground I went for the train. BNSF 8110 with B EMPDEN7 16 being held in place on the main between Corona and Crest over the tornado warning issued at 208pm until 245, Sunday May 18 2025. I love doing severe weather. ~and Trains!
