Western Railroad Discussion > UP Albina Engine Tracks Status?

Drove over the Fremont Bridge in Portland tonight and glanced down at UP's Albina Yard, and to my surprise it appears that the tracks where locomotives have traditionally waited for their next assignment (the ones just north of the Fremont Bridge that run into the big shop building) have been torn up, with some sort of earth moving equipment there. Anyone know what's going on? 

 

Sounds like more UP (un-performing) at work.   Sorry, just could not resist.

Couldn't find any newer Google Earth or Bing Maps photos - all of which still show the locomotive servicing facilities south of the shop building still intact.

I wonder if UP is doing an environmental cleanup of the sight, and then will build a new, more up to date servicing area?  My bets are that ground below the site is probably full of diesel fuel spills.

As far as I know, Albina is the only locomotive servicing location in the Portland area.
