Western Railroad Discussion > Train orders hooped up to Big BoyDate: 08/02/26 12:21 Train orders hooped up to Big Boy Author: rock4310 Great story today in Hays Post (https://hayspost.com/posts/e8ca6c01-c09c-4c3e-8068-80f088d7adf4) about Jim Stramel handing train orders up to Ed Dickens when Big Boy was in Hays, Kansas. Jim started his career with the UP in Granger, Wyoming in 1949 doing just that, hooping train orders up to Big Boy's. I've posted a photo showing him doing his job in January 10, 1980 in Hays (https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,2452657,2452657#msg-2452657). Amazing that 77 years after he started with the UP he got to do it again.
