I am hearing through the grapevine that a demolition crew razed the former Missouri Pacific depot in Bloomington, TX this morning.  Bloomington is located southeast of Victoria and is the dividing point between the UP's Brownsville and Angleton Subdivisions, which together constitute what was originally built as the mainline of the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railway, and for many years it served as Missouri Pacific's mainline into the Rio Grande Valley.  There were still vehicles parked near the depot when one of Google's Street View cameramen passed by in June, so I assume UP vacated the building very recently.

It seems to be UPRR doctrine to demolish any station/yard office or building that isn’t a pre-fab conex container manufactured post 1990. OTOH BNSF puts money into maintenance of their older depots and yard offices to a much greater degree.

Interesting difference in philosophy.

The tandard for MoPac frame depots was a coat of white paint. Bloomington was painted shortly after the UP operating consolidation in about 1984. The Trainmaster at the time did his research and asked the B&B department to paint it in what he thought were UP colours. Looked great but raised some eyebrows with local managment. 

Sad to hear about the station.
In June 2024 I was in Bloomington waiting for CP 2816 and snapped a shot of the station.
