Western Railroad Discussion > Lehigh Valley Heritage, boring BNSF and an AmtrakDate: 08/05/26 10:37 Lehigh Valley Heritage, boring BNSF and an Amtrak Author: SP8595 This past Sunday (August 2nd) Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8104, the engine painted in the Lehigh Valley Heritage paint scheme led the 258 train out of Kansas City.
1) One of the only places to shoot a morning Eastbound Norfolk Southern train from the North side of the tracks is the Highway 65 overpass at Carrollton and it also gives the best chance to beat the train to another location so yet another shot from this familiar spot. This time however, a McDonald's semi decided to add to the picture:} Also in the background a couple of cars away from the rear DP can be seen a pair of NS engines. These things have been parked there for a couple of days and will be seen in picture #3. 2) Flying over the West switch at De Witt with the searchlight signal seen next to the trailing engine, which was C44-9W #9901. 3) The pair of C44-9W's seen in pic. #1 were shot on the next day, August 3rd and are C44-9W's 9953 and 9883. --------------------------Three More Pictures Posted Below----------------------- Date: 08/05/26 10:38 Re: Lehigh Valley Heritage, boring BNSF and an Amtrak Author: SP8595 4) Also on the 3rd, BNSF 6764 and 5306 head Eastbound through Carrollton, MO.
5) Early in the morning of August 4th, BNSF 4233, 4332 and NS 8154 are on another Eastbound stacker seen just West of Carrollton. 6) Amtrak P42DC's 147 and 194 are cruising through Carrollton with the Eastbound Southwest Chief also on the 4th. Wish you could send the Lehigh Valley Heriage unit out towards Colorado.

Date: 08/05/26 18:04 Re: Lehigh Valley Heritage, boring BNSF and an Amtrak Author: GRNDMND I would agree with you a bunch on the "boring BNSF" stuff, other than some r/w/b things out roaming the rails, but your images make that other stuff less boring. The same could be said for that "boring Borg" stuff...other than a large teakettle that has been out and about. Good series as usual John!
