Western Railroad Discussion > From Somewhere to SLCDate: 08/27/26 08:49 From Somewhere to SLC Author: broken_link I know the destination of this eastbound BNSF stack train is the BNSF / SLGW intermodal facility in Salt Lake City, but I'm not sure where this one, led by BNSF 7831 on Friday, July 10, originated. It's seen here between East and West Norden on Donner Summit. If I understand correctly, some of these trackage rights trains originate or terminate in Long Beach, while others are going to or from the Oakland International Gateway. (Eastbound symbols S-OIGSLC1 and S-LBTSLC1) I suppose it's one of the two.

I don't think the dimensional lumber would be very easy to offload from a moving train, and it looked untouched. I'm not sure what was in the boxes in the container that preceded it, however.

Can't be great for them sitting in a container for 3 weeks in humid, cold, then hot weather sailing across the ocean. Then who knows how many days sitting in the container yards baking in the sun.
