My youngest boys have really gotten in to baseball, which is fun to watch, even if they are rooting for the wrong teams (my wife has something to do with one of those wrong teams).  One is a Dodgers fan (as a Giants fan, that's a little hard to type) and the other is a Royals fan.  Turns out, the Royals would be in town to play the Dodgers earlier this month.  So we decided to plan a trip to Southern California and for some baseball and beaches.  Well, it kind of spun from there and we ended up going to Dodgers Stadium on Monday that week, Petco Park on Wednesday, and Anaheim (ok Angel) Stadium on Friday.  My wife now wants to hit all the MLB parks, but that might take us a while.  We've been married more than 20 years and we just barely finished all the California stadiums, though with those bums the A's moving, we'll have to hit the new Las Vegas park when it opens (we did see that construction underway this trip).

Turns out, all three were good spots to see some trains.  

1 - From the Top Deck at Dodgers we could see the Union Pacific LATC intermodal yard that we had driven past on our way to downtown.  Didn't try a picture, my phone's zoom isn't all that great.  But the Dodgers did have a good mural that I snagged a photo of.
2 - We sat in the very top row on the 3rd base side at Petco to be in the shade, which also gave us a chance to turn around and watch for trolley's or stuff out on the bay.  When I went down to grab lunch, I found a good angle to shoot the trolley & freight yards.
3 - One of my older boys wanted to go see something at Angel's stadium, and I checked the Transit app to see if Metrolink or a Surfliner might be coming, and luckily a Surfliner was schedule to arrive in a few, so we found one of the pedestrian ramps to grab a photo

That week we were there, Metrolink didn't run anything south of Laguna Nigel, but the Surfliners kept on cruising through, we spotted one after the Padres game at the Santa Fe station.

Trains and baseball, excellent!

The wife and I love Petco in San Diego,  even better than SF as the weather is balmy. Just got back from T-Mobil in Seattle. Neat place but so damn noisy. The Oakland Coliseum was wonderful before Mt Davis and had nice views of the SP. That bum Fisher will never see another dime of mine, All have train action nearby.

Neat photos, Nathan.  That is a really nice mural of the Brooklyn days for the Dodgers.  And the views from Pic 3 to the end looks very familiar!

That second photo, I strongly believe, is from San Diego.  That appears to be the Coronado bridge over the Navy channel (note all the Navy ships in the background), along with the NASSCO shipyard in the background.  In the foreground is the SAN DIEGO TROLLEY, while a BNSF unit switches out their auto rack train in the BNSF yard.

If you had read the caption for that photo you would know it was taken from Petco Park, San Diego, CA.
