Here are a couple of foreign power opposites, one from Mexico and the other Canadian, taken two weeks apart here in Southern California on the BNSF. On Sunday morning 8/16, I stumbled across a grain train led by BNSF 3952. Only 35 loads, I was surprised to see 3 units on the head end along with 3 more on the rear. Even more surprising was outward facing DP, Ferromex GE 4629.

1) Here is the rear of the train dropping out of Summit at Silverwood.

2) Thanks to my friend Mike for letting me hitch a ride, we beat the train to Sullivan’s Curve in time for a head-end shot.

3) And another going away from the traditional overlook. Not much info on where the train came from or where it was destined but it was last seen waiting at Rana for permission to go onto the UP.

Then yesterday morning another surprise, before leaving home as I checked the Barstow railcam, I spotted a westbound BNSF with a CN leader. This train should have been long gone but I found it sitting at Keenbrook due to congestion, finally moving at 7:25 AM and the chase was on.

4) Coming into CP Foothill (north end of San Bernardino) CN 2279, note the two trailing units were SD70ACe’s 9334 and 8993.

5) And then the usual go-to spot at Highgrove.

Coincidentally, this is the same unit Craig ‘CrossTieWalker’ got leading another BNSF train a few days earlier https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,6213827. Anyhow folks, thanks for looking.

Nice catch and chase, Bob. It's not just me or SPgoletablock having a hard time finding FXE units leading or nose out - did a quick TO search going back to 2009 just now.
