Western Railroad Discussion > Fleeting Coal on the BNSF Jamestown Sub

Fleeting coal trains is normal on BNSF Subs such as Black Hills and Sand Hills but very rare on the Jamestown Sub. But it did happen today, September 1. Coal destined for Detroit Edison's Monroe Station used to go to Superior, WI docks for transloading to Great Lakes ships. Detroit Edison did not renew its lease in Superior as Monroe is converting to natural gas later this year. But for ponow the coal is still shipping via rail all the way. The BNSF 6205 led the first C-SCMCNM through downtown, past the NP 2164, followed 15 minutes later by the BNSF 6014 pulling another C-SCMCNM. These trains will interchange with the NS in Chicago.
