Western Railroad Discussion > The rolling meet that wasn'tDate: 09/30/26 08:12 The rolling meet that wasn't Author: broken_link It wasn't for me, anyway.
Several minutes before the westbound ZG2LT emerged from Tunnel 41, as seen in the photo and video I shared a few days ago, I heard the rumble of an eastbound climbing up through Soda Springs a couple miles to my west. Eastbound trains will often stop short of the Soda Springs grade crossing when waiting for westbound trains to clear the single track Tunnel 41, but I heard this one signal for the grade crossing and continue the climb up towards Donner Summit. I thought I'd catch it with a rolling meet approaching East Norden as the ZG2LT cleared and the switch lined for the manifest on Main 1, but apparently they slowed or stopped short somewhere around West Norden. So it goes. Photo and Video: About 5 minutes after the westbound ZG2LT passed me, UP 7339 was leading what is probably the eastbound MRVGR at CP RV193 East Norden on Donner Pass.
