Rail Scenes from movie "A River Runs Through It"
Author: rrman6

Montana cenes in this Robert Redford directed movie of the early 1990's shows the station and Northern Pacific steamer/passenger train. For this movie setting, does anyone know what railroad and location these scenes were performed at and is it operated as a tourist attraction?

The depot and steam locomotive scene were filmed in Bozeman, MT on Montana RailLink.

The tunnel and high trestle scene was at Eagle's Nest Tunnel on former MILW trackage up Sixteen Mile Creek, east of Lombard, MT.

The steam locomotive used was one of the surviving Great Western steamers...I don't remember which one it was.
