CNW 6900 and ex-SP 8858 joined LTEX Roster

Rolling north on the Joint Line early April 3, 2004 into Denver were two old units lettered/leased by LTEX (Larry's Truck & Electric). The BNSF’s Kansas City, KS, to Pasco, WA, train had BNSF SD60M 9242 leading LTEX RSD40T-2 (SD40T-2) 8858 ex-Southern Pacific 8858 and LTEX RSD40-2 (SD40-2) 6900 an ex-UP, eex-Chicago & North Western unit. The 6900 still wears the distinct C&NW Zito yellow/green paint scheme.

The units were moved over to the Union Pacific’s North Yard by April 7th. They had come from LTEX shops at McDonald, Ohio. The cabs have been made road worthy. Only the 8858’s Southern Pacific lettering had been painted over in black (not the entire unit) and the LTEX initials applied.

The two LTEX units moved from UP’s North Yard to their Denver Locomotive Shops (AKA Burnham Shops) on April 8th. They returned to BNSF at Denver on April 12, 2004. Looks like they’ll be leasor units working BNSF rails in the coming months.

CSXT SD40-2 8453
Montana Rail Link (MRL) SD-45 346

LTEX RSD40-2 6900 (RSD is model designation used by LTEX, rebuilt SD40-2)
