Can any one tell me if the SP had any of locos or did order any,, If they ordered any, then how many did they order,please??? thanks in advance.. Brian

From what I understand they placed an order for three just prior to the merger. By the time they were delivered they were placed on to a UP order and delivered in UP paint.

The 3 that SP ordered were to be numbered 600-602, but were delivered in yuk yellow due to timing of takeover

I would have love to have seen them, along with green and black BN and red and silver SF ones, as well as black NS and blue CR ones.

SP did originally have 3 AC6000CW's on order and were to be numbered #600-602. However when UP tookover, the order was changed to 3 AC6044CW convertibles and were tacked onto the UP order for that model. They were delivered as UP #7010-7012, which at the time were directly after the 10 preproduction AC6000CW test units that UP had taken delivery of already.

Per Don Strack's website, the SP units (supposed to be UP 7010-7012) were canceled, and 3 units from the order of C6044AC's (supposed to be UP 7080-7082) were delivered as UP 7010-7012 instead.

I assume you asked because you were thinking about ordering a Broadway Limited. BLI's diesels are cheesy! The E Units we have at the shop I work at have a seam from the windows to the numberboard to the pilot. And the Union Paciific's don't have silver truck side frames. The preproduction pictures I have seen of the SD40-2s look worse than a Bachmann. And the SP AC6000CW they will be offering says it comes with Gyralight, don't know where they got the idea for that. The AC4400CWs and Dash 9s don't have them. Sounds like cheese to me.
