Western Railroad Discussion > Rio Grande GP40's on Roydale (CO) JobDate: 01/12/05 10:36 Rio Grande GP40's on Roydale (CO) Job Author: cozephyr Union Pacific's Roydale Local is using two Rio Grande GP40's, 3111 and 3129. They were pulling up hill out of UP's 36th Street Yard, Denver, CO, Jan. 7, 2004. This will likely end come 2007 when UP moves to a new subcontractor built and owned yard built at Watkins, CO. UP will lease the yard. Denver RTD FasTracks line to Denver International Airport (DIA) could be running this alignment. 36th Street Yard will close as a UP operation being replaced by RTD commuter diesel shop and yard.
