Western Railroad Discussion > Unusual Patch JobsDate: 03/15/05 22:14 Unusual Patch Jobs Author: jmw #1377 looks more like a former L&N hold out than a patched UP unit. Due to human error the image is a bit washed out but the old geep did look pretty much like it does in the photo.

Some stayed in their former CSX paint jobs, and a few got Helm paint, and later SP patches. Date: 03/16/05 04:21 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: QU25C EX IC by looking at the dich lights .
Date: 03/16/05 05:22 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: csxt4617 Hmm...I was almost right, according to this page:
http://utahrails.net/all-time/all-time-12.php 471-488 are the 28 GP38-2's I was talking about that are ex-SP, exx-Helm, exxx-CSXT, exxxx-SBD, exxxxx-L&N (I remember one was wrecked, and not ever assigned a CSX number, and another one went to another shortline). 489 is ex-L&N, but was a GP38AC, CSXT 2177, ex-L&N 4047, so it's still an original L&N :) Date: 03/16/05 08:48 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: NI030 I love the fake SP "L" window on the 1377.
Date: 03/16/05 09:37 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: scannergeek Behind 1377, that ex-SP unit appears to have a real L window.
Date: 03/16/05 20:41 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: Evan_Werkema There were at least two GP38-2's in the SP 4845-4873 group that kept their Helm maroon and blue colors with SP sublettering. SP 4864 seems to get spotted and photographed most often; UP 498 is the other one, ex-SP 4873. I'm a little surprised that 498 is still lugging around that massive Leslie RS-5TR air horn, a holdover from its days on CSX.
Date: 03/17/05 14:40 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: Gateway97 Really looks L&N, except the Old Reliable didn't gussy-up the front end with extra headlights and doo-dads on the cab roof. They did use some melodious S5 nathans that were the cat's meow. Not to disparage the SP P3's, they are great too.
Date: 03/18/05 12:37 Re: Unusual Patch Jobs Author: SCL1517 It IS ex L&N, and as such once had a gyralite between the numberboards.
