Western Railroad Discussion > Question about Yuma Valley Railroad, Yuma AZDate: 03/29/05 09:39 Question about Yuma Valley Railroad, Yuma AZ Author: rms492 Just got back from a wonderful ride on the Yuma Valley Railroad on Saturday.
Question about the branch: Is it still used by UP? How far does the branch actually go? I believe we only went about 5 miles out. What is the name (or was) the name of that branch we rode on? Does UP have any customers on it, as I remember seeing some sort of plant (I think it has to do with salt and salinity) on the right. There were several tracks that went into the plant, and they looked in great shape, but I was not sure if it is used? Thanks for any and all help you can give me on this branch. No revenue traffic at all anymore and I do believe the line was built to construct the levees which you rode along. I'm sure if you do some computer research you'll find out more info than I can provide, or someone else reading this post can fill in the blanks.
