New look on the P&W OE line
Author: Jefflocal

The OE line between Albany and Eugene,OR got a facelift
recently. I went out to photograph this work train last
Saturday and found him running over ribbon rail! Trains
ought to be able to make good time to Eugene these days.
Here is the work train just south of Albany with an
interesting set of what looked like permanently connected
gondola cars.

What time does the Albany-Eugene hauler run on this line? I think that the last that I heard it was at night.

Must be poor man's ribbon rail. The near rail appears to have 4 welds between the pilot and the right edge of the picture, and two bolted joints under or just behind the train.

What was in the front of the cars and just in back of the locomotive? It looks like it has a yellow wall in back of it.

The Albany Hauler (or South Hauler) goes on duty at 10 pm Sunday - Friday nights. Lately, the job is mostly daylight on is run north from Eugene - or at the very least by Harrisburg.

The slot car has an excavator in it that can move within the car. This work train should be active through the summer, possibly seven days a week, picking up ties and doing trenching and drainage work.
