Love the shot, by the way. Love anything BN. Date: 07/18/05 13:46 Re: BN 92 at Dry Creek Fill in October of '89 Author: kwo Train 92 was my favorite Front Range Sub train by far back in the late 80's and early 90's. Lots of LMX's, tiger stripe GP50's, and headless GE's. Throw in a reasonably predictable schedule and it made for easy pickens photography wise.
I used to be able to see the tracks from my workplace in Ft. Collins at the time and once counted 18 days in a row that 92 ran with two LMX's for power. Would have been 1989 I think. Another common set was a GP50/B30-7A combo. Saw the train as small as 10 flats behind a single tiger stripe GP50 (with a caboose!) to a mammoth train in July of '88 that had three SD40-2s followed by a couple dozen autoracks ahead of the normal lengthy intermodal train. Even saw it once with a U30B on the point. I sure am glad we've got lots of video shot back in those days. In fact the main reason I can remember all this so vividly is because my son and I have been editing the video to make a BN 1987-1995 DVD for our enjoyment. Thanks for the memories Joe.
