Western Railroad Discussion > Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be?Date: 08/27/05 16:56 Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be? Author: indyspy I am just curious. Now that we have a MP,WP, and KATY running about. Will we see something like a Rock Island? Since the UP did not exacty acquire the road, only some of the trackage that seemed to acquired by many of the UP merged in roads. What about some of the newer mergers, where locomotives are still roaming the system in former schemes. CNW? SP? SSW? DRGW?

Three more, DRGW, CNW, and SP, in that order, I believe, all by early 2006. Date: 08/27/05 17:13 Re: Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be? Author: Anonymous User I guess Todd should just take the search button of this site. It appears it never gets used.
(How was that for a smartass answer hehe) ~Matthew Date: 08/27/05 17:15 Re: Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be? Author: deadgoon I'd love to see some of the other railroads pick up on this. Particularly I'd like to see some L&N and ICG stuff. I guess I should start writing letters to CSX and CN.

for all the bells and whistles (video files, web cams, etc), all I really do is read and post occasionally, which I can do as a heritage member. If I ever get a high speed connection (unfortunately, probably doubtful where I live), I'd probably subscribe. Date: 08/28/05 18:55 Re: Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be? Author: djansson Maybe (and I mean MAYBE) the positive media spin from these engines will prompt some brass hat in Omaha to think of adding to the mix. Ya never know and face it, these engines are a BIG surprise, regardless of the reason why UP did it.
That said, there are quite a few historic "first generation" RRs that UP swallowed and paying a bit of tribute to them might be an interesting idea. On the OTHER hand, what would a "Heritage" DIESEL paint scheme be for the Central Pacific, or the Denver and Salt Lake?? Flame ON! Date: 08/28/05 20:22 Re: Heritage Locomotives. Or even the Mt Hood Railraod and possibly the Spokane International! Bamberger too, okay? Butch,,,,,here we go Date: 08/28/05 23:12 Re: Heritage Locomotives. How many will there be? Author: mcdeo Once all 6 are out and about, I'm sure that UP will do some PR shots and stuff. Just wondering if the 6 will 'tour' the system or something. I mean, without foamers keeping track and posting, and UP not allowing the GPS to be monitored by the public, it will be difficult to actaully catch them in person, potentially.
I for one, like the idea and look forward to all of the pictures and hype surrounding the units. |
