Disneyland Resort has current openings for part-time ("Casual Regular") Firers on the Disneyland Railroad. Individuals in the "Firer - Locomotive" role are responsible for operating the steam locomotives while providing safe and reliable (on time) service for Disneyland Guests. The position involves operational/functional checks of systems and equipment, requiring a solid mechanical aptitude.

Hours for the Casual-Regular status are not guaranteed and may range from 0 to 40 hours per week, depending on seasonal attendance demands at Disneyland.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be fully available (seven days a week) for any day and shift during the peak seasons including Summer, Thanksgiving week and both winter and spring holiday seasons. Availability required for the off-season includes Friday nights and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
Working knowledge of basic mechanical systems and safety in an industrial environment.
Boiler or Operating Engineer experience is preferred.
Ability to sit, for prolonged periods, in a confined area at temperatures of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, due to working in close proximity to a locomotive boiler.
Some physical ability and dexterity is needed to adjust valves and to work with the machinery.
Excellent Guest-service skills.

Firer? Couldn't they at least come up with something like "Assistant Steam Locomotive Operator" for a title instead of the insanelt feminazi term "firer"? Hmmmmmm?

Then you've never worked for Disneyland. If you say you know aout steam trains, they won't touch you for this gig. They want to be able to train you thier way.

I know an electrician who worked in maintenance at the Magic Kingdom back in the 60's. He quit and went into construction work after he asked for days off in August to attend a railfan event. Apparently Disneyland management takes a dim view of workers who want time off during summertime--they get real Mickey Mouse about the very idea.
