These two employees were waiting for the speeches and dedication of #9 on August 1st. Then they could get back to the business of running trains.

Number 9 finally was converted to oil. The entire C&S narrow gauge locomotive fleet was to have been converted to oil but the enpense of putting facilities at Como and Leadville nixed that idea. Only one engine was converted, the 70. You would wonder what firemen Pete Marinelli (Leadville to Como) and Bob Terrill (Como to Denver) on the last passenger run would have thought if they knew their engine was an oil burner.

Nice photos. I will be out in the Georgetown area (Idaho Springs) in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to see her in action. Will the #9 see regular service? Thanks for any info.
