Anyone for a "twelver header" Steam is alive and well

12 Steam engines, front to front to front to.....
Oddly they are all coupled together and running in reverse, but it's quite an amazing video!

If you look at the title of the video clip, you'll see that it's "Steam in Wolsztyn Poland, Part II". Now, if you look in YouTube's "View other videos" column (on the right side of your screen), you'll see a "Part I" listed. Watch *this* one and the locomotives are going forwards, from right to left across your screen. Obviously, they had two runbys, first forwards, then the locos came by in reverse returning to the depot. There is also a 3 min. 22 sec. slide show, by the same photographer, showing stills of the locomotives individually or by twos. In this show, the date is listed: April 29, 2006. Evidently, there was a "Steam Festival" held that day at Wolsztyn, Poland's "Heritage Steam Depot". Both the videos are terrific, but I think I like Part I a little better, because the locos are facing the "right" way!

Thanks for calling this video to our attention, Mitch.

I was there for the Wolsztyn Steam Parade. The show was attended by 8000 people. The runbys were done at first individually, then two at a time, three at a time, six then all twelve operating engines passed the show line in a single pass. It was quite a day.

Here is one of my photos showing the twelve engine consist.

Ok now that's cool...

Reminds a bit of the one time I saw a scene even slightly close to that, at RR days in Topeka in 1992 I think it was. At the close of things on the last night, I think Monday night of Labor Day weekend, the equipment on display was coupled up in to one string to go from Pauline back to town. 3751 was on the east end I believe, and 3985 on the west, with a few diesels inbetween. Certainly the only time those engines ever shared a train. When they were ready and whistled off, they opened 'em up like mad! The sight and sound of those two LOUD steamers throwing it all into getting it rolling was great, the reverb off the grain elavator fantastic. Love to see a video of that scene again.

PH, 3751 and 3985 were together at Railfair '99 in Sacramento, along with 4449, 844 and a couple of diesels. They all pulled south out of the display area to blow off and get serviced. It was an awesome sight, even though the two UP engines were facing backward in the consist.

Ah but were they working hard and storming away or simply shuffling? Can't knock the sight of four big steamers all together tho...Rarer and rarer occurence...
