Steam & Excursion > Rockton and Rion (SC) RR

I am seeking photos and information on the R and R. Also the BUC RR of Union, SC

Your best bet would be Slow Trains Down South Daily Except Sunday (Vol 1) by Mallory Hope Farrel. That would be your best bet for pics of both.

R & R was a great little RR. I went down there 4 times. I shot both No. 19 amd 31. The engineer was very friendly... I gave him a 5 or 10 dollar bill, and he let me run the engine up the hill. THOSE were the days... no lawyers around. Just friendly people enjoying themselves with steam. Keystone1

I remember seeing some of that film footage. We had to do three reels
of your stuff to get that 4501 and Southern material for our video, and there
were other Southern Shortlines. I remember the Rocton and Rion. Still have the transfers
of those 3 films which were all very nice. Those shortlines were the last bit of US standard gauge
steam in the U.S.
