At one time the locomotives were in the process of being scraped. I never did hear the story why the scrapping stopped. Does anybody know the rest of the story.

There are people out there that know a lot more about this than I do. I think there were 3 engines of this class rescued from the scrap yard. One goes as pictured and stated, the other two go to the people who rescued the locos. One of those is supposed to go to Portsmouth VA to a fledgeling museum after a COSMETIC restoration.
