Steam & Excursion > My Take on Train FestivalDate: 08/01/11 08:33 My Take on Train Festival Author: CPengineer I'm finally getting around to processing some of my photos from Train Festival, and thought I'd post a few from the inbound QJ trip.
These three were taken on July 19th, the first day of the QJ doubleheader to Rock Island. The train ran from Newton - Iowa City, and I caught it first at South Amana. 1. South Amana in the blistering heat. 2. Transferring water at Yokum Junction while waiting for a westbound out of Iowa City. 3. The westbound freight that put the QJ doubleheader in the hole at Yokum. Date: 08/01/11 08:36 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: CPengineer The QJs ran Iowa City - Rock Island on July 20th, the day before Train Festival, with freight.
4. Iowa City engine facility. 5. The "new" face of 6988 6. Backing down to the sand tower. The diesel in the background, along with the two business cars, will be attached to the rear of the train but is only along for the ride. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/01/11 08:39 by CPengineer. Date: 08/01/11 08:37 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: CPengineer 7. Taking sand at Iowa City
8. Steaming away from the Iowa City shop towards the train. 9. Blasting through Downey, Iowa Date: 08/01/11 08:39 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: CPengineer 10. Crossing the Cedar River at Moscow, Iowa
11. Steaming past the old Rock Island depot at Wilton, Iowa 12. Putting on a good show past the concrete elevators at Walcott, Iowa Date: 08/01/11 08:41 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: CPengineer 13. About to cross the Government Bridge between Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Illinois

Date: 08/01/11 09:21 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: EL-SD45-3632 Great shots indeed! How did you get these without any fans in the way??
Date: 08/01/11 10:54 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: Mgoldman Nice series, Jeff! I like the Iowa City engine facility shots - not a view
most of us had a chance to see. Re: the former RI depot in Wilton - that tree has gotta go! Nice tree, bad location for it. Looking forward to more! /Mitch Date: 08/01/11 10:55 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: Keystone1 Well... these are the best pictures I've seen of the festival. Good Work! Keystone1
Date: 08/01/11 11:07 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: refarkas Often it's easy to choose a favorite photo. Not this time. There are too many great shots from crossing the Cedar River and from passing the depot at Wilton to your shot of the new headlight on 6988 and your shots of the crews working. Well done! Very well done!!!

location for it. But the location is named on the welcome sign to the right of the engine. Date: 08/01/11 16:33 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: Mgoldman Why hide the station behind a tree??
Jeff, you're holding out on us! Where the Zephyr shots? /Mitch Date: 08/01/11 17:08 Re: My Take on Train Festival Author: 1003-2719-1385-engr She does look nice cleaned up t.. :)... Clean or dirty, it is gorgeous
