Steam & Excursion > Steam, Trolleys and Ferries - On the SF Waterfront!Date: 09/17/11 10:17 Steam, Trolleys and Ferries - On the SF Waterfront! Author: LoggerHogger Here is one of my favorite photos taken by Bert Ward while he was a trolley man in San Francisco in the late 1930's. Here we see State Belt of California 0-6-0 #9 shuffling her cut of cars past the Ferry Building while the trolley man of #993 adjusts the cantenary.

Author: shoretower The really amazing thing is that, though the Port Belt Railway is long gone, trolley cars now run on the tracks, so you can still see PCC cars and older trollies along the Embarcadero.

Yup. Except for the 0-6-0, it is amazing to think that you could come close to reproducing that photo today if you caught Market Street 798 in front of the Ferry Building. Neat neat shot. More from the State Belt? Z Date: 09/18/11 16:50 Re: Steam, Trolleys and Ferries - On the SF Waterfront! Author: Statebelt Trolley cars don't run on the tracks. It is an entirely different arrangement, nothing like the old Belt or even the old trolley tracks.
