Union Pacific #844 is going to Yuma, Arizona

I learned from the Union Pacific Steam website, that Union Pacific #844 is going to Yuma, Arizona. This could mean California as well. May
go to Yuma with friends of mine from the railroad museum in Campo.

I agree, hope we get the times and dates, I would love to see her again, haven't seen her since 99 when she was in Sac Town and her Flues crapped out!

Now a poll: How many people DIDN'T laugh when they read Adam's response. Classic!

Nope that is when it is leaving not when it is arriving!

It is highly unlikely the engine will come to California. It will be in Arizona as part of that states' Centennial celebration. There is no reason for UP to bring the locomotive to California. This being said, nothing is an absolute certainty and I will be pleasantly surprised if they do...but I wouldn't count on it.

Initial info on UP site says Oct 29 into Novemeber, with the first celebration in NM around Nov 4. Display cities include Colorado Springs, suggesting a run down the joint line in very early November (or up the Joint line if this is on the return). No routing or schedules yet, so let the rumor mill begin.

From the UP site:

Display locations include Colorado Springs; Dalhart, Texas; Alamogordo, NM; El Paso, Texas; Tucson and Yuma.

Once it gets to Dalhart, the route to Alamogordo, El Paso and Tucson is certain. My question is how does it get from Colorado Springs to Dalhart? Go east first? What towns would it past through on UP rails? Are there trackage rights over BNSF?

According to the UP rep. here in Phoenix, she comes to phoenix on saturday, Nov. 12. So Yuma she be right around that date.
