Riding the Grand Canyon Ltd.
Author: cp1400

Last week I spent six days as a car host on the Grand Canyon Ltd. I was assigned to the full length ex-Santa Fe dome car Sky View. It was a great car to ride and I met many friendly people over the course of the trip. Working on board limited opportunities for the fine photographs that have been posted by others. Thanks everyone for the amount and variety of views posted so far.

Here is my selection of photographs of the Grand Canyon Limited.

1. Our eastbound runby at Bouse on day 2.

2. My home for the trip. SLRG 551, former Santa Fe full length dome lounge now named Sky View and owned by Iowa Pacific Holdings.

3. One of the plentiful Saguaro Cactus surrounding the tracks west of Salome.

Second that motion!! All are very good. But number 3 is really the one I've been waiting for. I've wondered if that setup occurred, and this image confirms that it did. Wonderful! Many thanks.

I so remember about 39 years ago when the Grand Canyon branch was about 2 weeks from scrap. Thanks to someone out there!!

Ken, those photos suck....

Yeah, you know I'm kidding. Seriously, some great shots, and it sounds like your time on the train was good as well.

Talk to you tomorrow.
