Off To Thier New Home At MRSR - COP Dinner Train
Author: LoggerHogger

Last year I helped facilitate the sale of our City Of Prineville Dinner Train cars to the Mt. Rainier Scenic RR. It took a while to get the cars shipped to Tacoma, WA from Prineville.

One of the cars was then re-painted at Tacoma. This last Sunday the cars were added to the end of the passenger train that MRSRR sent to Tacoma to celebrate the opening of the Lemay Auto Museum (seen in the background of this photo.

Bob Harbison took this photo of the train leaving Tacoma on Sunday afternoon the the way to the shops at Mineral. The cars finally get delivered Sunday night.

How is the City Of Prineville doing with its railroad? Is it profitable again?

Todd,

Yes, the COPRy is operating in the black. We have a new freight depot complex installed and a transloading facility under construction. Freight runs most every day during the week.

I parked the Mount Emily Shay out in front of the freight depot in 2010 as that facility was completed.

There is a fairly recent (April 26, 2012) article here:

Last half of the article gives pretty good detail on carloads and
everything else that is being built up to support more rail traffic.
