Steam & Excursion > MemoriesDate: 07/01/13 19:30 Memories Author: Bob3985 Well I dug into the old files and pulled up a few shots for you.
First, "Heck this coal firing is a piece of cake". Second, They said all the "Good" engineers wore white Kromers. Third, I will trade you straight across. Enjoy as I am sure there will be more to come in the future. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 07/01/13 19:45 Re: Memories Author: Bob3985 A few more to enjoy.
First, Here ya go. A brochure to tell you all about a real locomotive. Second, Hail, Hail the gangs all here. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/01/13 19:46 by Bob3985. Used to get real stares on the runbys standing in the crew car door. We had them too with the 1522 and a division superintendent chewed our asses out for it because it represented alcohol and drinking.
Those were fun days and I enjoyed my trips with you guys and learned a lot. Date: 07/02/13 05:37 Re: Memories Author: Bob3985 Enjoyed having you guys along with us too. They were good times.

We had the stand up Bartles and James ad (still have it out in the garage) and they were in great demand and went to a lot or parties and weddings and such and were signed and dated to commemorate each event! Great fun! C. Carol Voss Bakersfield, CA Date: 07/02/13 16:30 Re: Memories Author: Frisco1522 Ours would sit down. I was watching the guys ferry the engine and cars up to North St. Louis one time and someone had them sitting on the board across the tool car door and their little legs were swaying back and forth as it ran along the elevated line downtown St. Louis. Wish I had shot video of it, it was funny.

He was assigned by Omaha to travel with us. He grew up in Evanston and worked his way up from Engineer to South Central Superintendent. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Edited 1 time(s). First photo was shot on the turntable lead in Cheyenne and the locomotives were on the old yard tracks south of the mainlines. That was on our return from Railfair '81 as I recall. That was, I believe, in Houston for the Republican National Convention and we were to stage by Hull Avenue near the Astrodome where the convention was being held. I was handing the brochure to the engineer on the Houston Belt Railway (I believe). Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/02/13 19:23 by Bob3985. I remember that wild dash down the Hardy Toll Road where you guys left everybody in the dust running track speed from Spring to Belt Junction. Luckily, I was on vacation that week and that was when I met you and Steve for the first time when you were on display there off Almeda. Date: 07/02/13 21:43 Houston Author: Bob3985 Somewhere I have a photo of the entrance to the entertainment train we had set up there. Maybe I will find it and scan it for here.
